Light snowfall received in the Junction City - Manhattan area

Snowfall was relatively light in the region early Wednesday morning.

The Riley County Police Department issued a statement via social media that roads are slick. There are several trucks that were unable to make up hills on I-70, so use extra caution and allow plenty of braking room.

Law enforcement dispatch reported just before 6 a.m. that there had been no accidents in Geary County.

David Wild, USD 475 Chief Operations Officer, issued a text message saying a dusting of snow accumulated overnight, and it was a little heavier on the west side of the school district. District administrators were informed that there would be normal school operations on Wednesday.

KDOT has treated area highways and the snow on city streets and school parking lots appears sufficient to accelerate melting. Wild added that motorists should exercise caution during the morning commute. He noted that bridges and overpasses are slushy and patchy slick spots will be encountered. Plan for and expect busing delays.
