The state of Kansas has money, a big change from just a few years ago. State Senator Jeff Longbine informed a Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce legislative luncheon audience Wednesday that the ending balance after the last fiscal year totaled $1.1 billion.

Longbine stated he feels most important will be the adoption of a 10-year transportation plan. "I think that's critical to our state. What's being talked about at this particular point are T-Works projects that were not completed in the last transportation plan would be picked up, an increase in preservation and maintenance on our existing roadways, and then also new projects for the next 10 years."

Longbine touched on other upcoming issues that are anticipated in the 2020 session of the Kansas legislature. They could range from a sports gaming bill to judicial selection for the Kansas Supreme Court.
