Junction City hires a new Police Chief

Junction City Manager Allen Dinkel has announced the hiring of John Lamb to serve as the new Police Chief, succeeding Dan Breci, who recently retired.


Lamb will come to Junction City after serving the Jacksonville, FL Sheriff's Department for 26 years. A native of the Jacksonville area he joined the Sheriff's Department in Jacksonville in 1993 and served most recently as Police Lieutenant over the Patrol and Community Affairs Unit, as well as an Assistant Chief assigned to Patrol and Enforcement, and Logistics and Support Services. He was responsible for overseeing approximately 150 sworn and civilian employees.


Lamb stated he was excited to join a team of talented professionals in the JCPD who share a commitment to public service and excellence in serving the City of Junction City. Lamb added, "It has been a long term goal to serve as Police Chief in a community like Junction City that is committed to its Police Department. I truly look forward to both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead."


John and his wife Nanette Cruz, have been married for 28 years and have four children.


Allen Dinkel, City Manager, stated," I am confident that John Lamb is a wonderful match for the City of Junction City. His deep understanding of the mechanics of police management and community engagement, coupled with his proven leadership, will be important assets for our City for years to come."


A start date for Chief Lamb has not yet been confirmed but will be in the very near future.
