The deadline to register to vote in the August primary election is fast approaching.
Eligible citizens have until Tuesday July 12th to register to vote for on the issues in the August primary.
"On July 12, is a voter registration deadline to participate in the primary election. So of course people can register to vote online or in person, but we're getting so close to that deadline. We highly recommend people print off the form and bring it to our office." Riley County Clerk, Rich Vargo says, "That is the most expeditious way that they can get it here and guarantee that they will get it registered in time because, contrary to popular belief, when someone fills out that form, they're not registered to vote or when they've mailed it. It's not until we get it in the system."
Voter registration forms can be completed and turned in at the Riley County Clerks office located at 110 Courthouse Plaza, 1st Floor, Room B118.
Vargo says it's also important for registered voters to remember to bring their state-issued photo ID to the polls on election day, as they are required in order to cast your vote.
