
One Riley County resident has passed away after testing positive for COVID-19.
A 67 year-old vaccinated woman tested positive on October 18th and passed away on November 2nd at Ascension Via Christi Hospital.
Her death brings the total number of COVID-related deaths in the county to 60.
Riley County has identified 41 new positive Coronavirus cases and 85 additional recoveries since the last report on October 27, 2021.

In Riley County, since December, there have been a total of 245 positive cases from variants of concern.
Four COVID-positive patients are currently under care at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. Two patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), one of whom is fully vaccinated. The two other patients, who are unvaccinated, are on the medical floor.

Vaccine Operations:
Riley County Health Department itself is currently providing third doses (boosters) of the COVID-19 vaccine. Those who are eligible at this point in time must have received the 2 dose series of Moderna or Pfizer greater than 6 months ago or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine more than 2 months ago. They also must fall into one of the following categories:
• 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine,
• aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions* should receive a booster shot of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine,
• aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions* may receive a booster shot of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine, based on their individual benefits and risks, and
• aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting** may receive a booster shot of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine, based on their individual benefits and risks.
Clinics will be held at the Riley County Family and Child Resource Center on the following dates. Individuals MUST schedule an appointment here.

Rapid and saliva testing is available for free.
Testing is offered:
- Monday through Friday KDHE will be at the Manhattan Town Center parking lot on the north side from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm offering ONLY PCR testing.
- The Health Department will continue to offer Rapid testing (antigen) for symptomatic individuals. Please call our screening line to schedule an appointment 785-565-6560.
