GEARY COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just after 11a.m. Thursday in Geary County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2021 Mercedes Benz driven by Charles L. Gillum, 66, Manhattan, was eastbound on Interstate 70 just before Flint Hills Boulevard trying to pass a 2004 F250 driven by Shane R. Conley, 19, Manhattan, in the left lane.
Conley failed to notice the Mercedes and proceeded to attempt a lane change. The pickup then struck the Mercedes. The Mercedes left the roadway and struck a tree.
EMS transported Gillum to the hospital in Junction City. Conley and a passenger were not injured. All three were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
