MANHATTAN - On Saturday, March 30th, the Flint Hills Discovery Center is hosting a 'Make It' workshop ahead of the April 8th total solar eclipse which will be visible over a small portion of North America.
Manhattan is predicted to experience 85% totality eclipse during this solar eclipse.
Members of the K-State Physics Department will be on-hand to assist participants with building a solar viewer.
There will be two workshop sessions, one from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and one from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
It costs $5 to make your own solar viewer, this fee includes all tools, materials and supplies needed to create either an adult or child solar viewer.
K-State Physics members will then show participants how to properly use the viewer and explain why it is important to view the eclipse safely.
Pre-registration is required by Friday, March 29 at 5 p.m. and spots are limited. Each adult and child pair should register for either the 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. session. Registration can be done online, by phone at 785-587-2726, or in person at the Discovery Center. Cost does not include admission to the exhibits.
