City release
October 10, 2025, Manhattan, KS – Sunset Zoo will host its annual family trick-or-treating event, Boo at the Zoo (Formally Spooktacular), on Friday, October 24th from 4:00 – 6:00pm, and Saturday, October 25th and Sunday, October 26th from 9:30am to 5:15pm.
Sunset Zoo has been hosting this community event for over 25 years. Each year, Boo at the Zoo provides a fantastic way for families in the region to enjoy safe trick-or-treating while experiencing all the wonders and adventures that the Sunset Zoo can offer. This year’s event is no different! In addition to trick-or-treat stations throughout the Zoo provided by local businesses, there will also be a zoo-wide scavenger hunt, virtual costume contest, animal ambassador programs, boogey dance floor, photo ops, local entertainment, inflatable obstacle course (Saturday and Sunday only) and a few other surprises!
Costumes are encouraged for all ages, but please keep them family friendly/easy to wear in the Zoo. They should not contain offensive language or be overly scary. The Zoo does require shirts and shoes at all times. No provocative or revealing clothing or large props. Roller-skates/blades, wheelie shoes, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, and electric ride-on toys are also prohibited in the Zoo. We also greatly discourage large, inflatable costumes as the size of the costume and noise of the fans are upsetting for many of the animals.
Friday, October 24, 2025 · 4:00pm to 6:00pm is dedicated to High-Risk and Special Populations, creating a welcoming and accommodating environment for guests of all ages with unique needs and families requiring extra support. The event will include sensory-friendly activities and games and a performance by the Manhattan Symphony.Tickets for this year’s event can now be purchased ahead of time online at SunsetZoo.com/boo or at the ticket booth open 9:30am to 5:00pm daily. Community members are encouraged to pre-purchase tickets to avoid long lines the day of the event. Pricing information, admission tips, parking details, and additional event info can also be found on the Boo at the Zoo website.
