Lois Elaine Kelly, 86, of Topeka, passed away April 21, 2023. She was born February 7, 1937, in Manhattan, KS, the daughter of Arthur and Doris (Lundin) Allen.
She was a graduate of Topeka High School in 1955 and Washburn University in 1959. During her senior years at both Topeka High and Washburn University she was crowned homecoming queen. She was also a member of Alpha Phi during her time at Washburn University.
Lois married Les G. Kelly in Topeka, KS on August 1, 1959. She started her working career in elementary education teaching at Dawson and Stout. Lois then left her teaching career to be a stay-at-home mom and later in life worked for the March of Dimes and Stormont-Vail Health.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur & Doris; husband, Les; and daughter, Kari Kelly. Lois is survived by daughters, Kim Terhune (Randy) of Maple Hill and Konni Flynn (Mike) of Topeka; sister, Arlys Tarwater of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Andy Terhune (Jayna), A.J. Terhune (Sarah), Alyson Simons (Scott), MaKenzi Tyler (Derek), and Chloe Holt; and great grandchildren, Hadley & Tessa Terhune, Jack & Reid Simons, Stella & Huxley Tyler, and she was so thrilled of the recent announcement for the arrival of her 7th great-grandchild expected to be born in September of this year.
A private family ceremony will be held.
