The Manhattan City Commission will discuss Parks and Recreation-related items during its work session at 6 p.m. Tuesday, in the City Commission Room at City Hall.
Staff will present a draft fee resolution for the Parks and Recreation Department that establishes fee-setting practices guided by policy. The primary policies influencing fee development are the cost recovery and scholarship policies.
The commissioners also will consider a resolution that authorizes MPRD staff to generate additional revenue by offering naming rights for new and existing facilities, as well as their amenities. The revenue from these naming opportunities will support upgrades during new construction and contribute to long-term maintenance and capital reinvestment. This initiative aims to reduce the overall tax subsidy by increasing private funding through donations and sponsorships, enhancing the financial sustainability of MPRD facilities.
