There will be a 9/11 Commemoration Ceremony on Fort Riley Thursday.
The Army said that the ceremony will be on Sheridan Avenue at the Global War on Terrorism Memorial – a small replica of the World Trade Center Towers on a Pentagon-shaped base. It bears the names of 1s Infantry Division and Fort Riley Soldiers who gave their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq. The ceremonybegins at 10 a.m.
Col. Jerry Nunziato, Fort Riley Garrison Commander, will provide remarks. The 1st Infantry Division and first responders from area police and fire departments will be represented.
Those who perished on Sept. 11, 2001 will be remembered as well as the military men and women who gave their lives to the nation during the Global War on Terrorism. This event will also honor those who serve today in the military and as first responders in our communities.
