Crews will begin a mill and overlay project on K-16 in Riley County from U.S. 77 to K-99, Monday, April 26, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Motorists will be directed through the work zone by a flagger and a pilot car during daylight hours. Traffic on the side roads within the construction zone will need to wait for the pilot car. Drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

Shilling Construction Co. of Manhattan, Kansas, is the contractor on the $3.1 million project. The project is expected to be complete by early July.

KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas go to www.kandrive.org or call 5-1-1. Drive safely and always wear your seat belt.
