Manhattan, Kan. – The Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation has received an additional $57,500 in Kansas Community Service Tax Credits. The Foundation was previously awarded the largest amount in July of 2020 totaling $192,500, to help fund KIDSCAPE,  a renovation project which is due to open on the second floor mezzanine at the Flint Hills Discovery Center, May 27.

Due to the FHDC Foundation securing the full amount in credits at the end of 2021, the State offered the additional credits but they must be used by April 15. . If fully used, this will be an additional $115,000 towards KIDSCAPE achieving almost $1.5 million in private funding for the project.

These tax credits are available at a 50/50 match, for example: a person donating $10,000 would receive a check for $5,000 from the State of Kansas and could also claim a $5,000 charitable donation on their taxes. A minimum contribution of $250 is needed in order to secure these funds.
