SMSgt (RET) Colin Alexander "Coke" Kennedy Jr., 76, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.
A visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will take place at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the Junction City Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Mark Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow at the Lower Humboldt Cemetery in rural eastern Geary County.
Memorial contributions are
suggested to be given to the Junction City Church of the Nazarene or
Gideon's International.
Colin was born November 13, 1946, in Casper, Wyoming, the son of Colin A. and Mary Jean (Hathaway) Kennedy, Sr.
Colin
graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyoming with the
class of 1965. He served in the United States Air Force retiring in 1988
as a Senior Master Sergeant. He later worked as a civil servant at Fort
Riley. He was a member of the Junction City Church of the Nazarene.
Colin was instrumental in the early stages of planning to establish a
Nazarene Church in Dwight, Kansas. At the time of his death, he was in
the process of completing his ordination.
On August 26, 1989, he married Barbara. They would have celebrated thirty-four years of marriage in August of this year.
Survivors
include his wife Barbara of Junction City, Kansas; three sons, Steven
Kennedy and his wife Jill of Jacksonville, Florida, Michael Kennedy of
Winfield, Kansas, and Rodney Kennedy of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one
daughter, Debora Delaney and her husband David Schnitzer of Bridgewater,
New Jersey; one step-son, James Cooke and his wife Rhonda of Shawnee,
Kansas; one step-daughter, Jennifer Terry and her husband Anthony of
Morrow, Ohio; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his
mother, Mary Jean Hathaway of Junction City, Kansas; one brother, Hal
Kennedy of Shoreline, Washington; four step-brothers and one
step-sister.
