Firefighters respond to blaze in the county

According to release from the City of Manhattan, at 12:04 p.m. Friday, the Riley County Fire District #1 was dispatched to 2830 Nelson's Landing for a report of a structure fire past the Manhattan City Limits in Riley County. Upon arrival, crews found smoke showing and identified a kitchen fire. The fire was extinguished within a few minutes.  The fire was isolated to the kitchen area and did not extend to the roof or other areas.

Manhattan Fire Department (MFD) also responded to assist during the early stages of the fire. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. 

Damage to the structure is estimated at $25,000. The damage estimate for contents is not yet available.
