Manhattan Regional Airport will receive a $5.9 million grant from the Department of Defense. The Flint Hills Regional Council, in partnership with the City of Manhattan, said that this is one of 13 awarded grants under the Defense Community Infrastructure Pilot Program by the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation.
The City of Manhattan participated in a competitive selection process for this grant which will be used for reconstruction of a runway at the airport to support Fort Riley military use of that civilian aviation facility.
A total of $5,925,150 will be awarded to the City of Manhattan to help undertake the $6,729,187 project.
