Sue Swenson, 79, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 at her home in Junction City surrounded by her loving family. A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Johnson and Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2024 at Skiddy Cemetery.
Sue was born September 30, 1944, in Manhattan, Kansas the daughter of Ned and Olivette (Schump) Wade. Sue graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1962. She later graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing with the class of 1966. She also attended Emporia Teacher's College in Emporia, Kansas for one year. Sue worked at as a nurse at Irwin Army Community Hospital. She also spent fifteen years working as a school nurse for USD 475 in Junction City, Kansas.
Sue was an avid quilter. She made many quilts for the White City Fourth of July celebration. She enjoyed reading and traveling. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church in Herington, Kansas. On August 14, 1983, she married Jack L. Swenson at the Episcopal Church of the Covenant in Junction City, Kansas. Sue is survived by her loving husband Jack; one son, Jason W. Swenson of Junction City, Kansas; two granddaughters, Lullaby and Augusta Swenson; one brother, Lyle Wade of Herington, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Christine who was stillborn.
