The Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Department of Transportation and area law enforcement agencies are partnering to launch a summer-long traffic enforcement initiative aimed at reducing fatal crashes on Kansas roadways.
Beginning June 6, law enforcement agencies will participate in "Operation Zero," a high-visibility enforcement campaign focused on promoting safe driving habits and preventing serious traffic accidents.
The initiative will employ a zero-tolerance approach toward speeding, unrestrained vehicle occupants, aggressive driving and impaired driving. Officials said motorists stopped for violations during the enforcement period can expect to receive citations or face arrest, depending on the severity of the offense.
Operation Zero enforcement efforts will continue throughout June, July and August.
