Shirley Grace Kies, 86, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on March 30, 2023. Cremation will take place. She was born on June 10, 1936, Muskegon, Michigan, to Frank and Ida (Pastoor) Yonkman. On
 January 16, 1953, she married the love of her life, Alford "Glen" Kies.
 Together they raised four children while maintaining a 23-year military
 career. Shirley was a devoted military wife, mother, and 
grandmother. She enjoyed working in the yard and took pride in having a 
lovely home. She also enjoyed shopping, walking and spending time with 
her grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her two 
daughters, Connie (Robin) Stewart of Junction City, Kansas, Jeannie 
(Bradley) Herndon of Pratt, Kansas; one son, Kenny (Suzy) Kies of 
Eudora, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and two 
step-sisters, Janeth Farber-Addis and Maxine Nickols of Michigan. She
 was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Glen; her 
eldest son, Larry Kies; two brothers, Frank and Fred Yonkman; and one 
step-brother, Fred Haddix.&nbsp;
