Linda J. Letcher was born on October 29, 1948, in Junction City, Kansas.
She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Fred and Emma Harris, on a
farm just outside of Junction City. Soon after graduating from Dwight
High School in 1966, she moved to Kansas City where she took a job with
Hallmark Cards. Linda married her husband, Ronald Letcher, in 1968 and
together they enjoyed 52 years of marriage and had two sons, Jason and
Jerod.
When her first son was born, Linda decided to become a
homemaker and for the next 25 years, she was very active in the lives of
her boys and her community. Linda frequently volunteered at St.
Patrick's Grade School and, after her sons were grown, worked there
full-time as a secretary in the principal's office, retiring after 22
years of dedicated service.
In her free time, Linda loved cooking,
quilting, bowling, and playing bass guitar as a member of several
country bands. She also volunteered with 4-H and was a former board
member of the Wy-Jon Women's Bowling Association.
 Linda was beloved
by multiple generations of children, parents, faculty, and staff at St.
Patrick's, and was considered a "second mom" to many of her sons'
classmates and friends. It is a testament to her character that she will
be deeply missed not only by friends she had known for decades, but
also those whom she'd only met in her final months.
 Linda passed
away peacefully while in hospice care on March 15, 2023, surrounded by
friends and loved ones. She is survived by her two sons, as well as a
great many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends. Linda
was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald, in 2020, and earlier by
her parents, Ordella (Harris) Liley and James Godfrey, and sister,
Karlene Graves.
A visitation service will be held at Maple Hill
Funeral Home in Kansas City, KS on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 6:00pm to
 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her honor be made be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
