The Riley County Commission has approved a letter of support for a Riley County Emergency Management grant application to the U.S. Department of the Interior. Funds are being sought to help mitigate or reduce the spread of wildfires. The work on preparing the application should be completed by the end of next week.

Emergency management Director Russel Stuky confirmed that work is under way on the University Park housing development in the 10,000 block of Lakeview Drive near Tuttle Creek Reservoir.

Stucky also noted that four used fire trucks have been acquired for service to replace older trucks.
