Geary County Emergency Management passed along information from the National Weather Service on the possibility of snow Friday night.

Highs Friday will only reach the mid to upper 30s across north central KS with upper 30s to lower 40s across northeast and east central KS. During the evening hours on Friday, the rain mixed with snow will change over to light snow. The rain across east central KS with mix with then change to snow during the evening hours.

Areas southeast of I-35 will probably only see a mix of rain and snow, with no snow accumulations expected. The current forecast shows the heavier snowfall remaining north of the area, across south central and east central NE where 2 to 4 inches of snow may fall. North central and portions of northeast KS may receive 1 to 2 inches of snowfall and east central KS will only receive a dusting to less than an inch of snow.

If the upper disturbance tracks a bit farther south then snow amounts may need to be increased slightly. However if the upper disturbance tracks farther north then only the northern counties may see an inch of snow. The snow will end Saturday morning with clearing skies through the afternoon hours.
