Steve Michael Cook, 75, of Milford, Kansas, passed away at his home on Monday, January 2, 2023. Cremation will take place.
He was born on December 19, 1947, Detroit, Michigan, to Robert and Alice (Wiltfong) Cook. He graduated at Highland Park High School in 1965. He attended an automotive college in Michigan later on. He owned and operated his own full service automotive shop in Gladwin, Michigan, called "Steve's Service".
In 1979, Steve and his family moved to Junction City, Kansas. Shortly after, he began working at Jim Clark Automotive. During Steve's employment, he received multiple awards and was inscribed into the Automotive Hall of Fame in Midland, Michigan. Steve spent twenty years with Jim Clark before he retired as their service manager. After retirement, he worked part-time at Santa Fe Pawn and Gun Shop.
Steve enjoyed trap shooting with his Jim Clark shooting team. He also loved motorcycles, fishing with his wife, and anything Chevrolet.
On April 8, 1991, he married Candi (Cartwright) Cook in Junction City, Kansas.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Candi, of the home; his five children, Raymond Scott of Alexandria, Kentucky, Steve Michael Cook Jr. of Solomen, Kansas, Brandon (Rhonda) Settgast of Junction City, Kansas, Michelle (Michael) Kaiser of Highland Heights, Kentucky, Tona (Steve) Brawley of Independence, Kansas; twelve grandchildren, Michelle Jones, Tina Whitaker, Aaron Cook, Robert Cook, Annalise Settgast, Christopher Smith, Brandi Smith, Katherine Campbell, Patrisha Kiernan, Shane Brawley, Krista Blades, Michelle Blades; eighteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Brenda Everett, Linda Everett, and Marsha Everett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alice Cook; brother, Jim (Becky) May; sister, Patricia Perkins; and son-in-law, Frank Smith.
