In the Pottawatomie County sheriff's race Shane Jager compiled a commanding lead with 4,108 votes compared to 959 for Michael Baker Sr. They ran on the Republican ticket. Jager is currently serving as sheriff.
Provisional ballots still have to be reviewed, some mail-in ballots counted, the final results audited and then canvassed by the county commission before the totals are final.
In the two Riley County Commission primary races the incumbents were on the short end of the vote totals. In the 2nd District Greg Mckinley had 830 votes, Philip Mattox 729 and he incumbent Marvin Rodriguez 627. Fanny Fang ran unopposed in the Democratic prmary. In the 3rd District race John Matta finished with 1,345 votes and incumbent Ron Wells with 996. Kathryn Focke ran unopposed in the Democratic primary and received 1,339 votes.
