Jacqueline A. (Jackie) Burgoon

Jacqueline A. (Jackie) Burgoon, 86, of Junction City, KS, passed away peacefully at Valley View Senior Life in Junction City on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Cremation will take place. A private family memorial service will take place at Johnson Funeral Home.  A private inurnment service will take place at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.

Jackie was born in Wichita, KS the daughter of William and Dorothy (Bragg) Hinman. Jackie met Ken Burgoon at Kansas State University and they married in May of 1956. She enjoyed the life of a stay at home mom and a military wife until 1981 when Ken retired from the United States Army.

She was very active with the First Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Pilot Club of Junction City, Officers' Wives Club of Fort Riley, United Way Board, American Red Cross Board, Fort Riley Historical Board, Geary County Historical Society Board, Lady Troopers, Fort Riley Panhellenic Groups, P.E.O. Sisterhood and the Chi Omega Sorority at Kansas State University. Jackie worked fifteen years as the receptionist for the Junction City Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include one daughter, LesLee Blount and her husband Curtis of Junction City, KS; one daughter-in-law, Sue Burgoon of Topeka, KS; four grandchildren, Sara Valenciano and her husband Joey, Zach Burgoon, Mackenzie Lytle and her husband John, and Nick Burgoon; four great-grandchildren, Emma Smith, Jaxon Lytle, Hazel Valenciano and Bo Valenciano.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ken and one son, Bill Burgoon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the First Presbyterian Church Choir, Pilot Club of Junction City or to the P.E.O International.
