Manhattan officials have announced that both westbound lanes on  Kimball Ave. near College Ave. opened this week and all lanes are now open. This is the culmination of a 12-month, $8 million project that included significant storm sewer and watermain upgrades, plus additional left turn lanes at the intersection and a new bus stop on Kimball Ave.

This project also included a new sidewalk along the north side of Kimball and the widening of an existing six foot trail to a full ten foot trail, which was also expanded west to Hillview Drive. Prior to this intersection expansion project there were 48 crashes at the intersection between 2012 and 2017.

Future, temporary lane closures along Kimball Ave. will occur as irrigation and plantings are installed later this spring.
