RILEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect for an alleged drug related death.

Just before 9:30p.m. Tuesday, police arrested Robert Boyles, Jr., 35, of Topeka, Kansas, was arrested in the 1000 block of South Seth Child Road, according to a media release from the Riley County Police Department.

Boyles was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant for distribution of a controlled substance causing death, distribution of opiate/opium/narcotic/stimulant/heroin dosage < 10 units, and use of a communication facility in the commission of a felony drug violation.

The arrest stems from an incident that occurred in August of 2021 wherein law enforcement officers investigated the overdose death of a 36-year-old woman. An affidavit in the investigation indicates a mixture of drugs including fentanyl contributed to her death, according to the RCPD.

Any individuals possessing pertinent information in the case are urged to come forward and assist law enforcement authorities. Boyles has previous convictions for ID theft, interference with law enforcement and for drugs, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
