
Long-time community servant has been honored by the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce. Former legislator Tom Phillips received the Lyle Butler Distinguished Service Award presented annually to a Leadership Manhattan alum.
The recipient of the award has demonstrated high qualities of leadership achievement with selfless motivations about civic duties.
Phillips has served as president of the United Way of Riley County and the Boys and Girls Club of Manhattan. He was first elected to the Manhattan City Commission in 2005 and served as mayor in 2007. Phillips represented the 67th District in the Kansas House of Representatives from 2012-2021.
The Leadership Manhattan ceremony concluded the annual program for 15 graduates.
