Claude Merrill Sams&nbsp;&nbsp;84 died July 27, 2022, in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp; He was born on June 6, 1938, in Caldwell, Idaho the son of Gordon and Julia (Spaur) Sams.&nbsp; Merrill served in the US Army and the Army National Guard for more than 30 years.&nbsp; He also worked as a truck driver.&nbsp; Merrill married Peggy Shumate.&nbsp; They made their home in Kennewick, WA, Idaho, North Dakota and Kansas before settling in Miltonvale.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents.
