Virginia Jean Glenn

Virginia Jean Glenn of League City, Texas passed away on October 10, 2022, at the age of 95.  She is survived by her husband, Dean Glenn, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage, and daughters Sharon (Rob) Kain of Salt Lake City, UT and Susan (Craig) Kersting of Sugar Land, Tx. and grandchildren Katherine Kain, Jeffrey Kain, Cameron Kersting, Lauren Kersting and several nieces.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her son Steven, and her sister Marian Larson.

Born in Courtland, Kansas, to Howard and Edna Barber on July 15, 1927,  she was raised on the family farm in Republic County Kansas. Jean graduated from Courtland High School in Courtland, Kansas.  She attended Brown Mackie Business School and was a receptionist for Great Plains Insurance Company in Salina, Kansas.

Jean was a member of the Salina Methodist Church and there she met and married her husband, Dean. “Dean and Jean” moved to Manhattan, Kansas for Dean to attend Kansas State University and where Jean became a member of the “Dames Club” of K-State. Jean became a full-time homemaker when their son Steven was born.

Jean loved sewing, embroidery, quilting, ceramics and various other arts and crafts. She also loved plants and took special pride in her vegetable garden. Jean will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother.

Jean was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and previously a member of the United Methodist Women (UMW) and Circle and is presently a member of the Friendswood United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held at Crowder Funeral Home in League City October 13, 2022, at 1:30 pm, Funeral Service will follow at 2:30 pm. Jean will be laid to rest at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Houston Texas.

Memorials in honor of Jean may be made to the Houston Food Bank or the American Cancer Society.
