Earl Howard (Perky) Perkins Jr. passed away September 2, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Earl was born in Junction City on April 2, 1951 to Earl Sr. and Betty (Pitts) Perkins.
Earl was a man for all seasons and a passionate traveler. He grew up a military brat and his love for traveling grew with his service in the US Navy.
A great athlete in his own right and an even better friend to all he celebrated life with. Earl graduated from Junction City High School in 1969 where he starred in football, basketball, and tennis and led JCHS to the 1969 state championship in football. Following his graduation, he played football at Independence Junior college and then joined the US Navy.
Following his service in the Navy he settled in California where he played and coached tennis from 1976- 1990. His love for traveling led him to many stops along his journey where he finally settled in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Earl was known for his athleticism but also for his strong relationship with his teammates such as Denival and Jimmy Grant, Fred Starks and Les Chaves. He was known for his strong will and tenacious love for his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James O. Beasley and sister Kem L. Perkins. He is survived by his brothers: Moses White, Eugene Perkins, Larry (Diane) D. Perkins, Sr., and Richard (Nancy) Perkins and sister Beatrice K. Perkins; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Celebration of life service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the William L. Talbott VFW Post #8773 on 1215 S. Washington, Junction City Kansas and will be followed by a reception in his memory.
