Following a recommendation from Superintendent Dr. Marvin Wade to implement a temporary return to a mask requirement inside all indoor USD 383 facilities, a special board meeting will be held tonight at 5:30 p.m.
Board members – including newly-elected Christine Weixelman and Jayme Morris-Hardeman – will decide whether to return to mandatory masks inside district facilities through January 21st, regardless of vaccination status. The district amended a previous mask mandate in October, allowing optional masks at the high school certain offices.
The district's medical advisory team recently recommended the change in response to escalating cases of the Omicron virus - an extremely contagious strain of COVID-19. Students return to class tomorrow and the team hopes to nip any potential spread in the bud.
Results of the vote will be posted here.
