MANHATTAN - The Flint Hills Discovery Center hired a full-time Education Specialist, Kodi Smith.
Smith will plan, develop and implement educational programs for all ages.
The Education Specialist will promote excellent guest experiences and help the FHDC meet goals and the overall mission of the facility.
This position also assists the Curator of Education, as well as collaborating with the Education Supervisor or event and exhibit development, including leading school groups, the Konza Prairie hikes, and education programs.
Smith has been with FHDC since 2021 as a seasonal educator.
“I am really excited to be able to interact with the public in this unique setting", says Smith. "I love seeing people's eyes light up when they experience the awe of the Flints Hills in person.”
Smith graduated from Fort Hays State University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Natural Resources and a Minor in Geography.
“I am thrilled to welcome Kodi as a full-time member of the Flint Hills Discovery Center education team", says Sally Dreher, FHDC Curator of Education. "Kodi brings with her a wealth of knowledge about the Flint Hills region and years of experience in educational programming. By adding an Education Specialist to the FHDC team, we will continue to expand our opportunities for all to learn about and explore the Flint Hills.”
