A bridge replacement project on eastbound U.S. 24 over Blackjack Creek approximately six miles west of Wamego is set to begin March 16.

KDOT said work will be done during the daylight hours Monday through Friday and on Saturdays as necessary. The project completion is expected in early 2022.

There will be three phases in the project including construction of median crossovers in phase one that will take about three to four weeks.

In phase two the bridge will be reconstructed with an expected completion at the end of this year.

Phase three will remove the median crossovers and temporary guardrail.

Traffic will be directed using signage, barricades, warning lights, digital arrow signs, traffic cones and temporary pavement markings. Drivers should expect delays and may want to find an alternative route.

King Construction of Hesston is the contractor on the $1.9 million project.
