Medal of Honor recipient Command Sgt. Maj. Terry P. Richardson will be honored during a ceremony at Grimes Hall on Fort Riley Tuesday at 3 p.m.

The Hall of Heroes is dedicated to the fallen Soldiers of Fort Riley and the 1 ID.  Fort Riley is also continuing a practice of naming streets for MoH recipients.

Richardson was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Donald J. Trump on March 2, 2026, for his acts of conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity on Sept. 14, 1968, in the vicinity of Loc Ninh, Republic of Vietnam.

The Fort Riley Hall of Heroes was previously housed with the Survivor Outreach Services office in the Army Community Services building on Fort Riley. With the restoration of Grimes Hall, built in 1931 as nurses’ quarters, the Hall of Heroes is being given the dedicated space and reverence the fallen deserve. The new location contains the Heroes wall, a reflection room, various artifacts and digital displays to honor the fallen who have served with and alongside the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley units throughout the Division's storied history.
