Ella Sue Heath, 86, died April 14, 2023, at her home in Montezuma. She was born on October 4, 1936, in Hereford, Texas, the daughter of Homer and Luella (Higgins) Thomas.
Ella Sue spent her childhood in Hereford where she graduated high school. She went on to further her education and studied to be a nurse. Ella Sue met Jack Heath and the two were married on September 10, 1956. They celebrated their 66th wedding aniversary this past September. They lived in Texas, Nebraska, and Kansas while Jack was a minister. The couple moved to Topeka, where Ella Sue was the office manager for Jack’s law practice. After retirement, they made their home in Montezuma.
She was a devoted wife and mother, taking care of her home and their three daughters. Ella Sue also worked as a paraprofessional for children with special needs.
Ella Sue is survived by her husband Jack of Montezuma; three daughters, Sue Lynn Heath of Montezuma, Cynthia Noll and husband Greg of Newton, and Sondra Koehn and husband Danny of Montezuma; two siblings, Frances Smith of Dimmitt, Texas and Glenn Thomas and wife Mozelle of Amarillo, Texas; sisters-in-law, Gloria Thomas and Hazel Heath of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Rachel Eck and husband Brandon of North Newton, John-Mark Noll and wife Valerie of Craig, Colorado, Brandon Noll and wife Marilyn of Newton, Heath Koehn of Montezuma, and Weston Koehn and wife Keri of Manhattan; and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Thomas.
A private family service will be held at a later date. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place.
