Fort Riley release
FORT RILEY, Kansas - U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Monté L. Rone, commander of the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley, presided over a Victory with Honors Ceremony as the division said goodbye to the Deputy Commanding General – Support, Brig. Gen. Terry R. Tillis at Fort Riley, May 30.
A Victory with Honors is a chance to honor Fort Riley leaders who are departing. It is a ceremony to thank them for their service to the unit, the community, and the Army, while bidding them farewell and best of luck at their next duty assignment.
Brig. Gen. Tillis has served as both the Deputy Commander for Maneuver and the DCG-S since July 2023. His next assignment will be at Grafenwoehr, Germany, as the commander of 7th Army Training Command.
“Brig. Gen. Tillis is the right leader to shape the next future generation of warfighters across the European Continent,” said Maj. Gen. Rone. “We wish team Tillis safe travels as he moves over to Germany. If you need us, we are still here.”
Brig. Gen. Tillis thanked everyone for his time with the Big Red One and gave his final remarks as Danger 8, the Deputy Commanding General-Support.
“For everybody that is here today, thank you for attending. It is super humbling for our family to have the opportunity to share this afternoon with you,” said Brig. Gen. Tillis. “It’s the 1st Infantry Division for a reason. It’s the one everyone else bases the standard off of, and we are the standard bearers for the United States Army. I will always be a Big Red One Soldier!”
