Start burning off the holiday pounds with Manhattan Parks & Rec

Posted Dec 28, 2021 1:39 PM

Start 2022 in the outdoors on a guided tour at Tuttle Creek State Park Burn off those extra holiday calories with the First Day Hikes initiative on January 1, 2022, at 10:30 a.m.

This approximate two-mile, family-friendly hike is over mostly smooth terrain with a short or long route to choose from. Wear warm clothing and comfortable shoes. Bring water, snacks, binoculars, spotting scopes, camera, and bird ID guide. Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome! Dogs are welcome, too, but must be on a leash.

The event is FREE (and includes a t-shirt, hot cocoa & coffee while supplies last) and preregistration is NOT required.

Everyone will have a chance to win valuable prizes including gift cards from Manhattan Town Center, Brand New Sleeping Bags and overnight cabin stays, and more!  Meet at the State Park Office; you must have a valid State Park vehicle permit to enter the park (available at the entrance).

Weather updates will be sent out through Facebook on the day of the event.

Kansas State Parks and AmeriCorps will have a food donation box available and are asking for non-perishable food donations to help local area food banks if you so choose. For more info email [email protected] or call 785-587-2768.
