Riley County Commissioners learned Thursday there were decreases in crime compared to the five-year average. Police Director Brian Peete said there was a 37% decrease in Part One crimes compared to the five year average and 34% compared to one year ago at the same time.
There were nine aggravated batteries and seven aggravated assaults, but an arrest on Oct.8 accounted for those incidents.
Part One Property Crimes were 38% below the five-year average.
The average in mate population totaled 131.5.
There was also a shooting on Marlatt last Saturday and the suspect turned himself in
