Darrel Paul Rusch, born August 28, 1947, in Abilene, KS, was the son of Paul W. and Emma L. (Klamm) Rusch and died August 11. 2023.
Darrel attended Carry Creek Elementary, Chapman High School, and graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS with a degree in business/economics.
Soon after he graduated from college, Darrel was drafted into the U. S. Army. He served for ten months in Vietnam and was stationed at Fort Des Moines in Iowa. His marriage to Susan Gottneid, whom he met while attending Bethany College, took place at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lindsborg, Kansas, during his military time in Des Moines. They lived in the Kansas City area for 12 years before returning to his family's farm near Woodbine in 1986. Darrel was a cattle farmer who loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and listening to music. One of the highlights of his life was the month-long trip he and Sue took to see Sue's missionary parents in Tanzania, East Africa.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Loren Rusch.
He is survived by his wife Susan Rusch, daughter Christina (Justin) Carlson, son Tim (Megan) Rusch, sister Pauline Rusch and four grandchildren, Grady and Malin Carlson and Camren and Clayton White.
