Sunset Zoo will host A Water Safari from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2026.This free-with-Zoo-admission event will highlight the importance of protecting aquatic habitats through interactive booths, animal spotlights, and aquatic-themed activities for all ages, from toddlers to adults.
Guests can also enjoy plenty of watery ways to beat the heat, including a splashy bounce house, inflatable sprinklers, and a special appearance by the Manhattan Fire Department. IHOP will provide complimentary flavored lemonades, and Manhattan Brewing Company will sell beer. Sunset Zoo’s Expedition Café will also be open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Numerous community groups will be represented, including:

- Manhattan Parks and Recreation
- Manhattan Public Works/Stormwater
- Kansas Water Institute
- Engineers Without Borders
- Kansas Wildlife Federation
- Friends of the Kaw
- Each booth will offer an activity for guests and stamp the event passports. Guests who complete their passports may redeem them for a chance to spin the prize wheel.
