J&K Construction plans to start work on the 2020 Waterline Improvements project starting Thursday. This will involve closing Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at Houston Street for approximately four weeks (orange shaded area).
Emergency access onto Houston Street, west of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, will only be available from the south. Please see map below for detour routing (magenta and cyan arrows). For those who regularly travel on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, we recommend diverting on either Fort Riley Boulevard or Poyntz Avenue to South Manhattan Avenue instead during this construction closure.
Expect moderate traffic and some delays. Alternate routes and detours are recommended above.
The intersection of MLK Jr. Drive and Houston will be completely CLOSED to non-emergency traffic during this work. See map for detour information.
The contractor estimates at least four weeks for waterline construction to be complete.
