Alice Elizabeth Cline Fehr - December 12, 1926-December 17, 2020

Alice Elizabeth Cline Fehr, age 94, grabbed her angel wings and went to spend her eternal life with our Lord Jesus on December 17, 2020 after spending a short period of time, surrounded by her family, in the comfort of the Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas. Alice was born on December 12th, 1926 in Little River, Kansas, the only daughter and 10th child born to Harry Edgar and Mary Elizabeth (Barr) Cline. Alice lived her entire lifetime within a couple hours of Salina….as a child in the Oakley area, most of her education in Salina Area, then on to New Cambria, Wakefield, back to Salina, then to Herington, back to Salina and her final years in Manhattan to be closer to her 4 children and grandkids and great grandchildren.
Alice attended Smolan High School as a freshman and graduated from Assaria High School. She followed her dream to become a cosmetologist after graduating from Stewart Beauty School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Bernard Albert Fehr, after he served in the Army during World War 11. They were married on April 30, 1950 at the First United Methodist Church in Salina.

Alice and Bernard settled on a Farm at New Cambria and started their family…their first 3 children were born before they journeyed to a farm in Wakefield, Kansas. Alice enjoyed being a farm wife and a mother. She had grown up out west during the days of the dust bowls and the depression, so she learned to appreciate a humble home, to enjoy nature’s bounties, to have fun and share joy. She had the kindest, most loving heart and a smile as bright as the sunshine, until her death. Family was special. Alice grew up with 10 brothers, the next to youngest child. Her dad would boast that he had 10 sons and each one of them had a sister! She enjoyed raising her own children and never missed any opportunity to be with them all the way thru schools, marriages, grandchildren and her latest joys, great grandchildren. Always active in the church in each community, she taught Sunday School, joined Ladies groups, served funeral luncheons, attended as many bible studies as she possibly could and was a faithful servant who walked closely with Jesus.

Alice learned to paint with oils and became an incredible artist with a flair for Victorian paintings. She enjoyed being a member of a small group of people who created miniature boxes and houses and scenes. She made beautiful hat boxes and filled them with treasures she found at garage sales and auctions. Refinishing many beautiful pieces of antique furniture that she enjoyed salvaging was another passion. She loved to piece together jewelry and create one of a kind pins and bracelets and necklaces and hat pins which she gifted and so proudly wore…..Rarely without a special necklace to compliment her outfits.

Alice will be missed by so many who have been wonderfully impacted by her love, including her 4 children, daughter, Cindy Fehr Roberts (Jim) of Herington, sons, Leslie Bernard Fehr (Corrine) of Junction City, Gaylen Edward Fehr (Carol) of Marysville and Ronald Ray Fehr (Renee) of Manhattan; her 11 Grandchildren: Michael, Benjamin, Andrea, Brian, Jordan, Becky, Kelsey, Nicholas, Bret, Alec, Jill and 15 Great Grandchildren: Gabrielle, EJ, Emmett, twins-Francesca and Winston, Isaac, Lyla, Cameran, twins-Caroline and Henry, Raleigh, Reed, Holland, Grayson and Olivia.

Proceeding her in death were her husband, Bernard, Her parents, her 10 brothers-Russell, Albert, Foster, Harry, Paul Dwight, Rolland, Dean, Ray, Calvin and Dale.

Cremation is planned with private family services. Inurnment and a Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7th, in Smolan, KS at the Mission Hill Cemetery.
