According to the City of Wichita, Jesse Romo, current Manhattan Airport Director will be the new Director of Airports for the City of Wichita.

Romo’s last day at MHK will be November 12. He will start at ICT Monday, November 29.

The City of Manhattan is now in search of a new airport director, and is “still early in the process,” according to Vivienne Uccello, Manhattan public information officer.

In a post on social media Romo wrote that he will miss Manhattan and “... in the last six and a half years we have made tremendous strides in taking the airport to new heights. Some of the most dedicated and hardest working people comprise the team at MHK, and they'll continue to do great things in the years to come.”

Romo landed at MHK in April of 2015 after serving as director of aviation at the Kansas Department of Transportation in Topeka, and previously served as deputy director of aviation, manager of federal and state affairs for aviation, and assistant office chief in the office of management and budget for KDOT. Romo was hired after former director Peter VanKuren announced his resignation in November of 2014.
