Elva Christine ‘Teen’ (Peterson) Krause passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2024. She was born November 1, 1930, in Enterprise, Dickinson County, Kansas to Martin Edward Arthur Peterson and Grace Esther (Picking) Peterson. Teena married Clyde Frank Krause in 1949. After spending time in Kansas City and Georgia, the family moved to Hutchinson, Kansas in 1959, where she lived for the next 65 years. They divorced in the early 1960s and she joined the workforce, starting as a gift-wrapper at Sears. She retired from Sears in the 1990s. From the time she moved to Hutchinson, she was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. She loved to travel, and she loved her family. Traveling with her sister, Leona, was one of her favorite pastimes. Together, they traveled all over the United States.
She is survived by one sister, Mary Esther Bever, three of her children, including son Greggory Allen Krause of Hutchinson, daughter Susan Koren Burdick of Texas, and son Jeffrey Neil Krause of Hutchinson, grandchildren Rachel Ann Swartz (John) of Texas, Benjamin Paul Krause (Tara) of Texas, and Heather Donnell Madrigill (Ed) of Kansas City, several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and life-long friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents, three sisters, Beverly Anne Krisher, Leona Ruth Blodgett, and Connie Marie Amburgy, son Martin Paul Krause, grandson Jeremy Allen Burdick, and great-grandson Lucas Aaron Swartz.
Per Teena’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m., April 27th, 2024 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Enterprise, Kansas while the spring flowers are in bloom. The family suggests memorials be given to St. Jude’ Children’s Research Hospital. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third St., Abilene, Kansas 67410.
