James Bruce Eichelberger

James Bruce Eichelberger, known for his great sense of humor and friendship, died in his home on January 4th, 2026. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Bruce was born on February 17, 1953 in Sabetha, KS to his parents Carroll Dean “Ike” Eichelberger and Betty Jean (Grosdidier/Eichelberger) Fugier.

Bruce graduated from Chapman High School in 1971 and went on to serve in the US Navy. Bruce later attended the West Arkansas Community College in Fort Smith,Arkansas where he focused on the medical field. After returning to Kansas, he worked as an EMT. He went on to have a long career in the train derailment business, serving as a supervisor for Hulcher’s and Filsinger’s in Abilene, KS; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He later retired from XPO as a driver sales representative. Never one to slow down, Bruce returned to his alma mater, where he was a well respected bus driver for Chapman Schools.

Bruce was known for gift of gab, his storytelling, and sense of humor. He loved animals, and enjoyed many activities, including playing boardgames, horseshoe tournaments, softball, fishing, and spending time with friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching sports on TV proudly rooting for his beloved Eagles, KU basketball, and KSU football. He also enjoyed riding around Dickinson County on his Can-Am, visiting friends along his way.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Carie Brooke Pierpoint (Wade) and his two grandchildren, Brooklyn and Nicholas, of Claremore, OK and his sister, Terri Patton of Fredericksburg, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Services for Bruce will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 12, 2026 at Danner Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4-6 P.M., at Danner Funeral Home.
