Major General D.A. Sims spoke and participated in a wreath laying ceremony on Memorial Day at the Society of the 1st Division monument in the nation's capitol.&nbsp;

Phyllis Fitzgerald, Executive Director of the Society's Fort Riley chapter, said about 50 people attended and the event was also shown on the Society of the 1st Infantry Division Facebook page.

Fitzgerald noted that there are more than 9,000 members in the organization.
