The Kansas Department of Transportation has delayed the start date for resurfacing on I-70 in Dickinson County. Work which was originally scheduled to begin Monday is now anticipated to begin on Thursday, April 16.

The project will involve concrete patching, mill and overlay, striping and rumble strips on 8.5 miles of I-70 from just west of the I-70/K-15 junction at Abilene to about 2.5 miles east of the I-70/K-43 junction.

During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane at a reduced speed for about three miles within the work zone. Motorists should anticipate minimal delays, not exceeding five minutes.

APAC-Kansas Inc. Shears Division, of Hutchinson, is the prime contractor for the $11 million project, which is scheduled to be completed by October, weather permitting.
