Andrew "Andy" Odell, 90 of Abilene passed away July 13, 2024. He was born June 9, 1934 in Oakland, California, the son of Harry Clay Odell and Myrtle Margaret (Miller) Odell, Piva. He enlisted in the United States of America Air Force May 13, 1953 and was honorably discharged May 12, 1957. On June 30, 1956 he was united in marriage to Norma Forgue at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Zurich, Kansas.
Andy worked as an Auto Mechanic at Gagelman-Vincent Motor Company, Plainville, Kansas, Peterson Pontiac, and Gus Reed Auto Service, Salina, Kansas. Andy attended Kansas Technical Institute, Salina, Kansas. Andy worked as an Engineer for Wilson Company Engineering in Salina, Kansas and ABB & Combustion Engineering in Abilene, Kansas.
After Retirement Andy directed tours for Village Tours in Yoder, Kansas. Owned & operated Odell Shoe and Boot repair in Abilene, Kansas, and spent time building an flying radio controlled airplanes. Andy is survived by his loving wife Norma. Daughters; Shannon Lawrence and husband Jeff, Carolyn Odell, Son; Troy Odell and wife Deb. Grandchildren: Kurt Lawrence (Angelina); Kris Lawrence; Aaron Odell; Troy Odell Jr; Priscilla Schultz (Jay). Great-Grandchildren; Mary Galvan (Juan), Sophia Schultz, Abigail Schulz and Madeline Schultz. Great-Great Grandchildren: Leah and Jr Galvan. His brother, Donald Odell, Nieces, Lisa Vix (Scott); Sylvia Straus, Nephew, Thomas Odell, Great-nieces, Stacey Strauss, Tiffany Strauss; Great-nephews Brian Vix; Shane York. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Clay Odell and Myrtle Margaret (Miller) Piva; brother, Norman Odell; sister-in-laws, Elaine Odell, Maier; Donna Odell; Niece, Bonnie York.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Solomon. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 P.M., Monday, July 22, 2024 at Danner Funeral Home with visitation to follow. The family suggests memorials be given to the St. Andrew's Catholic School, Neighbor to Neighbor, Hospice of Abilene.
