Eldon E. Davis, age 91, of Blue Rapids, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Blue Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in Blue Rapids.
Eldon was born on June 2, 1932, in Marysville, to Eldon and Margaret (Butler) Davis. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1950. He served in the US Navy during Korea. He married Beulah Farrell on July 10, 1954, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Marysville, she passed away on April 19, 1985. They had three children: Bruce, Dianne and Karen. He married Patricia (Yungeberg) Weiche on February 15, 1987, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Blue Rapids. Pat brought four more children to the family: Lori, Michelle, Robin and Glenna. Eldon had worked as a meat cutter for Stanley’s Hy-klas Grocery Store in Blue Rapids for years.
Eldon was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Blue Rapids and the George Bedford Post 169 of the American Legion, also in Blue Rapids. He coached and played softball for many years, and taught the Hunter Safety Program.
Eldon could be very funny in a stoic kind of way. You needed to watch out when he had a glint in his eye and he frequently had a good joke ready to tell.
Survivors include his wife Pat, his children: Dianne Davis of Waterville, Karen (Rob) Swearingen of Blue Rapids, Lori Dornbusch of Herington, Michelle Martin of Orange City, Florida, Robin (Sean) Martin of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Glenna (Kris) Beckley of Wellsville, sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Preceding Eldon in death are his parents, his first wife Beulah, a son, Bruce Davis, two grandchildren: Alyssa Davis and Zachary Jones, a brother, Jerry Davis and a sister, Peggy Pellham.
A private family graveside service will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery, north of Blue Rapids with Father Greg Doll officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors by George Bedford Post 169 of the American Legion and an Honors Detail from the US Navy will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
